Why an E-Portfolio?
In every teacher preparation program in the country, pre-service educators are asked to compile a portfolio of evidence containing the experience, knowledge, skills, and accomplishments that indicate their teaching readiness. These artifacts are fairly standard across all grade levels and a variety of educational disciplines. Indeed, the portfolio has become the identity package of educators. But how do we curate a package with uniqueness and impact?

Within the field of art education, teachers have a distinctive advantage. We understand aesthetics.
As an added bonus, incoming art teachers are encouraged to include examples of their studio work as representation of ability. The opportunity to include such personal imagery is advantageous due to the potential of its visual impact, especially when considering creating a digital online portfolio (E-Portfolio). These and all other artifact choices become a part of our individual brand - who we are as an art educator.

In addition, an E-Portfolio provides a representation and demonstration of not only the expected portfolio requirements but also the successful ability of a teacher candidate to integrate technology. By working in a digital format, art educators are also increasing access to hiring managers, maintaining efficient updating of materials, improving aesthetic representation of identity brand, and competitively promoting their materials in a way other candidates have not yet fully taken advantage of.

So what can your E-Portfolio say for you?
