These are suggestions developed collaboratively with the pre-service students who have experienced making an E-Portfolio.

Ask a photography major or talented friend to take a professional photo of you.

Use a thesaurus wisely.
 - 
Keep your audience in mind.
 - 
Use one professional email address.
 - 
Be consistent; message, brand, fonts, colors, links open in new window, etc.
 - 
Pay attention to details.
 - 
Edit, edit, edit; ongoing reflection and review of site.
 - 
Include links to your Personal Learning Network (PLN) - facebook, twitter, linkedin, personal blog, pinterest...
 - 
Be selective for quality and voice.
 - 
Use open source software such as wix or weebly; keep in mind the tools you will have access to beyond college.

Familiarize yourself with support resources for software.
 - 
​View each page of your website as an artwork; make conscious aesthetic choices; use imagery to visually describe your brand.

Look at your site on different platforms to check layout and functionality.
 - 
Images viewed online need only be 72 dots per inch (dpi) with a small dimensionality; save as jpeg file format.
 - 
Ensure that each webpage has a way to navigate back to other pages - usually maintaining a toolbar is recommended.
 - 
All attached/ embedded document files should be pdf file format.
 - 
Smaller file sizes load faster.
 - 
Select text within pages to link to other pages or outside websites.
 - 
Documents that are not originally digital should be scanned for best possible copy - do not photograph.
 - 
Create a QR code for your website and put on email signature, business cards, and resume.
